Terms of Service
Last updated
Draft: this page is being reviewed before payments open.
The short version
- Accounting Exercises is an app of ScaleSolving LLC. These terms are an agreement between you and us.
- The exercises are practice for learning. They are not accounting, tax, legal or financial advice.
- Our MO-220 practice is independent. We are not affiliated with Microsoft or Certiport, and our certificates of completion are not a Microsoft credential.
- Paid plans renew until you cancel. You can cancel anytime, and every plan has a 30-day money-back guarantee.
- Use the site to learn. Don't copy, scrape, resell or share access to it.
The full terms follow. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your data.
1. Who we are
Accounting Exercises (the "site") is an app of ScaleSolving LLC ("we", "us"). It runs at accountingexercises.com and accounting-exercises.vercel.app. ScaleSolving LLC also runs other apps; this page covers Accounting Exercises only.
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
2. Who can use the site
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- If you are under 18, a parent or guardian, or your school, must agree to these terms for you. A parent or guardian must make any purchase.
- If you use the site for a school or an employer, you confirm you may accept these terms for that use.
3. Your account
You can try the first exercise of every lesson without an account. Some features, such as paid plans, need one.
- One sign-in for ScaleSolving apps. Accounting Exercises shares its sign-in with other ScaleSolving LLC apps. If you already have an account in one of them, the same email and password work here, and an account made here can sign in to those apps too. Each app keeps its own profile and records.
- Keep it to yourself. An account is for one person. Keep your password secret and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account.
- Keep it accurate. Use an email address you can read, so we can reach you about your account and your plan.
4. Free practice and paid plans
The first exercise of every lesson is free. A paid plan opens every lesson, unlimited new numbers, hints and full solutions, and the timed tests that earn certificates. What each plan includes is on the pricing page.
- Plans: Monthly ($19.99 a month), Annual ($69 a year) and Lifetime ($179 once). Prices are in US dollars.
- Payment: Stripe handles checkout. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us.
- Renewal: Monthly and Annual plans renew automatically at the end of each period, at the price then in effect, until you cancel. If a price changes, we will tell you before it applies to your plan, so you can cancel first.
- Cancelling: cancel anytime from your plan-management page. You won't be charged again, and your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Lifetime: one payment, no renewals. Lifetime access lasts for as long as we run Accounting Exercises, and includes lessons we add later.
- Refunds: a full refund on request within 30 days of your first payment, on any plan. The details are on our refunds and cancellation page, which is part of these terms.
We may add, change or retire lessons and exercises as the course improves. If we ever stop offering Accounting Exercises, we will give paying subscribers reasonable notice.
5. Acceptable use
Use the site to learn and to practice. Please don't:
- share your account, or let other people use your paid plan;
- copy, scrape, download in bulk or republish the exercises, solutions, lesson pages or tests, including with bots or scripts;
- resell, sublicense or offer the exercises as part of another product, course or service;
- use the site to build a competing product, or to train a model that reproduces our exercises;
- get around the paywall, the time limits on tests, or other limits, or try to break into accounts or systems that aren't yours;
- overload the site, or interfere with how it works for others;
- take a timed test for someone else, put another person's name on a certificate, or misrepresent what a certificate shows.
Teachers may show the site in class and point students to it. For class or team use beyond that, write to us (see Contact).
6. Practice, not advice
- The site teaches skills through practice. Nothing on it is accounting, tax, legal or financial advice, and using it doesn't create a professional relationship with anyone.
- The companies, people and amounts in exercises are made up.
- Payroll exercises use example rates for practice. They are not current tax law for any place, and you shouldn't use them to run a real payroll or file a return.
- For decisions about real books, taxes or a business, ask a qualified professional.
7. MO-220 practice and certificates
Accounting Exercises offers independent MO-220 practice and is not affiliated with Microsoft or Certiport. Microsoft and Excel are trademarks of the Microsoft group of companies. We don't use their exam questions, and passing our practice exam doesn't earn the Microsoft Office Specialist credential, which only Certiport's proctored exam awards.
When you pass one of our timed tests, you can claim a certificate of completion:
- It records that the name you typed passed our test, with the score, pass mark, time taken, date and each task. Our server picks the numbers and grades the answers.
- Anyone with its link or ID can view it on our verification page. Type your real name, and only claim a certificate for a test you took yourself.
- It is not a certification, a license, an accredited qualification, continuing-education credit, or a Microsoft credential. Tests aren't proctored, and we don't check identity.
- We may revoke a certificate that was earned against these terms, for example by someone else taking the test. A revoked certificate shows as revoked on the verification page.
8. Who owns what
- Our content. The exercises, generators, lessons, tests, text, design, logo and code of Accounting Exercises belong to ScaleSolving LLC or its licensors. While you follow these terms, we give you a personal, non-transferable permission to use them for your own learning.
- Your work. Your answers stay yours. You let us store, grade and process them to run the site, show your progress and issue certificates, and to improve exercises using answers combined with others' so you can't be identified.
- Feedback. If you send us an idea or a correction, we may use it without owing you anything.
- Open-source parts. The spreadsheet engine is open-source software (IronCalc), used under its own license.
9. Other services
The site relies on other companies, including Stripe for payments. Their own terms apply when you use them, for example on Stripe's checkout and plan-management pages. Links to other websites are for convenience; we don't control those sites.
10. Disclaimers
We work hard to make every exercise correct and every answer checked by code. Still, the site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms: not that the site will always be available or free of errors, and not that using it will get you a job, a grade or a passing score on any exam.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data or lost opportunities, arising from your use of the site;
- our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if that is more.
Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, or rights you have as a consumer where you live.
If you use the site against these terms and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim.
12. Ending your use
- You can stop using the site at any time, cancel your plan, and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy).
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why where we reasonably can.
- Sections 6 to 11 and 14 still apply after your use ends.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site grows. We'll change the date at the top, and for important changes we'll tell account holders by email or on the site before they take effect. If you keep using the site after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with a change, you can cancel and stop using the site.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [state], USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If a dispute comes up, please write to us first; most problems can be fixed quickly. Any court case about these terms will be heard in the state or federal courts located in [state], unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it there.
If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer these terms to someone else; we may transfer them to a company that takes over Accounting Exercises, and the terms keep protecting you as they do now.
