What a certificate shows

The numbers came from us

When a verified test starts, our server picks the company, the amounts and the dates for every task and records the start time. Nobody can prepare the answers in advance or retake the same version until it comes out right.

The answers were graded by us

The learner's spreadsheets and entries are sent to our server and graded there by the same code that checks every exercise. The score on the certificate is the server's, not the browser's.

It was timed

Answers count only within the test's time limit. The certificate shows the time taken, the score, the pass mark and every task, so you can see exactly what was tested.

What it doesn't show. The test isn't proctored and we don't check identity, so the name is the one the learner typed. It is a certificate of completion from an independent practice site, not an accredited qualification, a license, or a Microsoft certification. For the official MO-220 credential, candidates take the proctored exam through Certiport.

For employers: test a candidate's skills

Send a candidate one of the tests below. Each gives new numbers every time and ends with a verification link the candidate can send back to you. Free tests need no sign-up; the others open with subscriptions.

A result is useful as a screening step. For a hiring decision, pair it with a short task done in front of you.

Questions

Is this an accredited or official certification?

No. It is a certificate of completion from Accounting Exercises, an independent practice site. Accreditation applies to schools and degree programs; this is a skills test. It is not affiliated with Microsoft or Certiport, and it is not the Microsoft Office Specialist (MO-220) certification, which is earned only by passing Certiport's proctored exam.

Why would an employer trust it?

Because they can check it here and see exactly what was tested. The numbers were chosen and the answers graded on our server, within a time limit. That makes it a reasonable screening signal, the way a take-home test is. It does not prove who sat the test.

What score earns a certificate?

The pass mark is shown on each certificate, usually 70%. Each task scores 1 when fully correct, or its share of correct parts. A run below the pass mark can still be shared as a verified test result.

Does a certificate expire?

No. It records a result on the date shown. Skills fade without practice, so the date matters.
